DRM costs Intuit $100M

Ouch, now there's a lesson I'm sure Intuit didn't want to have to learn. Kudos to them for dropping DRM from their line-up. Now, if only they'd send me the rebate check they still owe me...

Computer crashes; foreign official trapped in limo

And you thought being locked OUT of your car was bad news...

Blue Laser + DVD = 37GB SS

Blue lasers are back, this time with DVDs. While I hate to see another standards fight and upgrade cycle in the making, a ~7X increase in capacity makes archving those photos, mp3s, files, etc that much more appealing... not to mention the game/movie possibilities.

The Mouse is Untouchable!

From extending patents/copyrights protecting their films and characters, to the latest agreement to close the airspace over all Disney facilities, Disney always seems to manage to get special treatment from the Gov't. Must be nice to have the $$$ to shape laws as one sees fit.

Typing monkeys produce gibberish

Well, of course it was gibberish... the sample size was way too small! ;p

I think it would be more interesting to generate every permutation of a CD by writing 0s and 1s. I have no idea how many 0s and 1s it takes to fill an entire CD, but I'm guessing we're going to need trillions of the damn things. Perhaps AOL could fund it?

Here's the actual monkey output.

Commute to Nowhere
Wow, what a depressing article... and yet, do I really feel that bad for someone who was making $300K and is now forced to consider selling one of his three cars? I suppose it's all relative... and I suppose I should be very thankful that I, and most of my friends, have work in the current environment.
