Yahoo! News - Da Vinci: Inventor of car?

Yahoo! News - Da Vinci: Inventor of car?
---
Any time you're a little blue, realizing that the vision you have for a great product or service will take years if not decades before it's a viable business proposition, think of Da Vinci. 450 yrs ahead of his time, inventing for the sake of expressing his vision, nothing more, nothing less.

Nice quote

The Offspring at the Warfield

Di and I were on the floor at the Warfield in SF last night, checking out The Offspring . I've been a fan of theirs since... wow, '93?!... but have never had a chance to catch them live. WHAT A TREAT to not only get to see them from 3 feet away, but in a great venue with a crowd with a tremendous vibe. I'd see them again if I had the chance, and would definitely make another trip back to the Warfield.

Sony pushes paper Blu-ray disc | CNET News.com

Sony pushes paper Blu-ray disc | CNET News.com: "The two companies have been working for about a year on printing data onto Blu-ray discs made mostly of paper. The companies are aiming to produce lower-cost discs and expand the use of the technology.
Sony and Toppan announced the 25GB discs Thursday and said more details will be revealed at the Optical Data Storage conference this weekend in Monterey, Calif. The discs will be able to store more than two hours of high-definition video. Representatives from both companies were not available to comment on their plans. "

Hmm, now this is a bit of a head scratcher... a blue laser that writes data in a density 5x that of current DVD drives... onto a medium/substance that is "mostly" paper?!

A bold prediction (even if the geo area is quite large), and a huge breakthrough if there is substance behind it. Worth watching closely...

Yahoo! News - World's Oldest Worker Quits at 104

Yahoo! News - World's Oldest Worker Quits at 104: "Two years ago, at age 102, Crist was named America's oldest worker by a nonprofit training group called Experience Works.
He started at Messiah at age 70, after a career in science and a decade teaching at Dickinson University. In his 34 years at Messiah, he took only a token salary of $1 a year. "

---
Wow, what a life. Thank you, Ray Crist, for everything you've done for this country. Enjoy your retirement!

And... it rocks.

- Good search results (licensed from Google!)
- Very nice integration of Amazon commerce (just books for now)/Search-Inside-The-Book
- Optional Search History tied to your Amazon account.
- Click History (sites you've previously clicked through to are marked persistently).
- A toolbar.
- Site info including site rank, # sites linking to it, date it went online, etc.
- Currently using Google AdWords (LOL!) for sponsored advertising...

Yahoo! News - 'Apprentice' Star Omarosa Fired 4 Times

Yahoo! News - 'Apprentice' Star Omarosa Fired 4 Times

I'm long overdue for some serious blogging, which I hope to do soon, but I just can't pass this up. I've watched The Apprentice faithfully (and am looking forward to next week's conclusion)... and I must say... I have no idea how Omarosa made it past the screeners. She embodies the worst of Dilbert; she takes no responsibility for her own failings, and is, in this layman's opinion, a pathelogical liar. It doesn't surprise me in the least to learn that others have seen through her BS.

"There Goes the Neighborhood" by Benjamin Wallace-Wells

"There Goes the Neighborhood" by Benjamin Wallace-Wells

While you may not agree with Benjamin's analysis of Greenspan's words and actions, the facts & figures he shares in this article are insightful and profoundly scary. More so then ever, I'm happy to be on the sidelines waiting to see what happens with CA housing in the next year or so.
