Apple plays catch-up:

According to a story in the Chinese language Economic Daily News, Apple has inked a deal with notebook manufacturer Quanta to build a new wireless Tablet PC-like device. The story will only add fuel to the ongoing rumors that the company is working on a tablet Mac. There have been rumors about a potential wireless device from Apple since last fall, when rumors started flying that the company was planning to make a smart phone using Apple's Mac OS. The Economic Daily News says Quanta has begun test production of the new device, and is expecting to ship in volume during Q1 2004.
