I described such a service to Deeje and Opie last year; both said they'd never use it. What will Friendster's fate be?

Friendster
Don't think dotcoms are cool? You're so wrong bricks-and-mortar breath, because the hottest site among cognoscentis is Palo Alto, Calif.-based Friendster, an invite-only community that's growing so fast its servers are straining under traffic loads. Once invited by an existing member, Friendster shows how many people are in your personal network. Since this trendster joined on March 9, that network has exploded to a mind-boggling 15,872 peeps based on just one degree of separation. It's another powerful example of the Net's peer-to-peer power.
