NewsFactor Network - E-Commerce - New-Generation Internet Protocol Launched: ICANN

NewsFactor Network - E-Commerce - New-Generation Internet Protocol Launched: ICANN: "'By taking this significant step forward in the transition to IPv6, ICANN is supporting the innovations through which the Internet evolves to meet the growing needs of a global economy,' said ICANN, which is holding its six-day annual conference in Malaysia.
'Every atom in the universe will now get an address. I don't see a problem with IPv6 running short of domain addresses,' U.S. Internet expert John Klensin told AFP. "

IPv6 promises enough GUIDS for every person on the planet to have one (or even several) persistent IDs. Powerful stuff, with profound implications (I've covered these for the past couple of years, so no need to rehash here).
